James and Alice Hopkins Stephens

Alice Hopkins was the eldest daughter of Barclay Hopkins and Mary Ann Dailey. She and her family went with her brothers and sister Emma to the Eldorado, Kansas oil field to work. When her brothers moved on to Eastern Kentucky, she and her family stayed in Kansas and later migrated to Oklahoma and Texas. She was close to her brother Charley when he lived in Iraan, Texas. She visited him there, and he was very close to her children and grandchildren.

James was born in Warren, Huntington County, Indiana on 6 May 1860, and died in Bristow, Creek County, Oklahoma on 23 Jun 1923. He is buried in Grand Prairie, Tarrant County, Texas.

Alice was born in Wayne County, Indiana on 6 Feb 1867, and died in Grand Prairie, Dallas County, Texas on 25 May 1949. (Grand Prairie is in three diffierent, adjoining counties.) She is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Ranger, Eastland County, Texas.

I'm in contact with two of my cousins from this line. We've been exchanging information about these families, and much of the following comes from them.

Descendants of James and Alice Stephens

I've prepared a register report for this family line in pdf format. It contains more details about this couple and their descendants.
